Taipei - A Taoist priest has successfully performed an exorcism at a Taiwanese legislator's office to break a spell allegedly cast by an female aide who had lured him into having an affair, said a newspaper report.
The evening China Times Express quoted an unnamed witness as saying the Taoist master had "seized 'hsiao kui'", or evil spirits, while he performed the exorcism at the office of MP Cheng Yu-cheng on Saturday night.
Concern had reportedly been growing that the married Cheng from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) was being controlled by his female aide Wang Hsiao-chan through some kind of spell.

Cheng's wife publicly visited his office last week in a move widely seen as an attempt to reclaim her place in his affections.
'The decoration of the office is uncanny' Angered by his wife's visit, Cheng threatened to divorce her and has not been reachable since he returned from an overseas trip last week with Wang, who gained notoriety after she had an affair with a top Kuomintang official several years ago.
Staff at Cheng's office declined to confirm the report, but Chang Yi-lung, an aide to DPP parliamentarian Wang Hsueh-feng, said: "The Cheng family did find some (Taoist) charms and ashes at the office."
"A Taoist master invited to check Cheng's office also said the decoration of the office is 'uncanny'," Chang said.
"But then again I'm not aware if the master did perform some sort of occult feat to counter the 'spell'." - Sapa-AFP
