Beijing - A man in southwestern China was sentenced to two years in jail for creating fake naked pictures of a young woman on his computer and then trying to blackmail her, the official Xinhua News Agency said on Wednesday.

Ye Zhijun, trying to raise money for medical treatment, pilfered a photo of a young woman from a tea shop's bulletin board and used software to make a spurious full-body nude photo of her, according to the Intermediate People's Court in Mianyang, a city in western China's Sichuan province.

Ye sent it to her in five separate letters, demanding 7 000 yuan (about R6 000) and threatening to distribute the picture if she didn't pay, Xinhua said.
