Dortmund - South African athletes continued to do well in the annual Sparkassen International meeting here on Sunday.
Okkert Brits, the SA record holder in the pole vault, started his European campaign in fine style with a 5.75m clearance and victory while Rene Kalmer and Graham Davidson both recorded personal best performances over 1 500m.
Kalmer seems to be on a determined mission to try to better the ASA required 4min 5sec for a possible place in the national team to the world championships in Paris. After winning in Kassel two days ago, she ran about three seconds faster yesterday afternoon when finishing third in an excellent 4min 07.69sec.

It was 1.25sec faster than her previous fastest set in 2001 in Durban and the fifth best by any SA woman. Irina Lischinska of the Ukraine won in 4min 2.60sec, recording one of the fastest times of the year in the world.
Davidson, who has been enjoying a fantastic few weeks in Europe, recorded yet another personal best to his impressive record. Following fast times over one mile and 800m, he lowered his own record in the 1 500m to 3min 37.73sec and the best by any South African this year.
Frantz Kruger, South Africa's star discus thrower and a bronze medal winner at the 2000 Olympic Games, won his event at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland, with a distance of 61.91m.
