CAPE TOWN - The leading global insurance organization, American International Group, Inc (AIG), announced the promotion of Senele Mbatha to role of Chief Financial Officer, AIG Africa.
Mbatha is a chartered accountant and has held several senior positions at AIG. His most recent role was that of Regulatory Controller for Africa, this entailed him looking after the full finance function of South Africa, Kenya and Uganda.
Before joining AIG, Mbatha was a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young and this was after having progressed through the ranks from an article clerk.
He has experience in numerous industries and exposure to a number of projects in a wide range of countries across Africa and Europe.
Mbatha now as promoted CEO of AIG, will be responsible for all the financial functions, this includes Controller-ship, Financial Planning & Analysis, Capital Management, Actuary, Tax as well as Financial Operations for AIG across the continent.
