Johannesburg – Analysts have already had their say around what they expect to be in Wednesday's budget.
Many anticipate tax hikes, with an increase in VAT being cited as a possible source of revenue to plug a R28 billion hole.
Others expect Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan to raise income tax.
This is likely to be one of Gordhan's trickiest budgets, especially as rumours are yet again swirling that he may be replaced as finance minister, with many saying Brian Molefe's appointment as a Member of Parliament paves the way for the former Eskom boss to fill this roll.
