Impala Platinum: Sangqu appointed to executive

Impala Platinum had appointed Andile Sangqu to its executive team as the new group executive for sustainability and risk with effect from March 1, the company said on Friday. Sangqu will lead social investment programmes, environmental matters, risk management, certain relationships with governments and regulatory bodies, and sustainability functions. He would report to Terence Goodlace, the chief executive, and would represent the company on a number of its operational boards, said Impala Platinum, the second-largest platinum producer. Sangqu will be a member of the executive committee. He is currently an executive director of Glencore Xstrata South Africa and is also an executive member of the Chamber of Mines.
