MTN names chief consumer officer

Johannesburg - MTN on Tuesday announced that it had appointed Larry Annetts to the position of Chief Consumer Officer effective immediately as part of the organisation’s ongoing quest to improve service quality and provide its customers with a distinct experience.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, MTN said Annetts had a proven track record of streamlining operations, inculcating a culture of efficiency and inspiring the teams he works with.

Annetts served in a number of roles, including serving as chief marketing officer of MTN Nigeria and chief marketing and strategy officer at MTN Irancell since he joined the group in 1995.

In his new role, Annetts would oversee all activities related to the sales and marketing division.

Annetts said he was humbled by the confidence that MTN had demonstrated in him and would approach this new challenge with the same vigour and enthusiasm.

“Our customers are the heartbeat of the business and I look forward to ensuring that we improve the quality of customer experience in all our channels,” Annetts said in the statement.

In the financial year ended December 31, 2015, MTN SA grew data revenue by 37.2 percent, and the prepaid segment increased by 12.3 percent to 25.3 million on the back of voice and data offerings.
