Pinnacle Holdings: ICT skills plan launches with 50 pupils

Pinnacle Holdings had launched a programme to accelerate skills development and training in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, the JSE-listed firm announced yesterday. Fifty pupils had been inducted last month and allocated to subsidiaries AxizWorkgroup and Pinnacle Africa. The programme, which offers theory and practical experience in the ICT field, is a partnership with the media and ICT sector education and training authority. The project is managed by Hlanganani-ICT. Students will graduate with a national qualification after one year. Meanwhile, Wipro, a global IT consulting and outsourcing firm, is graduating 150 participants from its IT skills programme compared with 70 last year. Interns work on live client projects gaining insight into software development, project management, client relationships and crisis management. Pinnacle shares fell 1.08 percent to close at R22.01 yesterday. – Asha Speckman
