Seacom chief executive Mark Simpson would step down to pursue personal interests, the provider of high speed fibre-optic network via undersea and terrestrial cable said yesterday. Simpson will be replaced by founding chief executive Brian Herlihy. The privately owned firm provides internet bandwidth along the eastern and western coasts of Africa to the continent’s network carriers and service providers. Simpson departs as the company is preparing to pursue growth in Africa. He told IT Web that Botswana, Malawi, Burundi, Uganda, Djibouti and Ethiopia were attractive for investment. Details of his departure were unavailable. – Asha Speckman
