Johannesburg - Central Rand Gold (CRG) on Monday said that it would be buying a concentrator circuit in a bid to upgrade the gold grade of the mine waste dumps materials before further metallurgical processing.CRG acquired mine waste dumps that contain 2.3million tons of gold bearing materials near its metallurgical plant on the southern outskirts of Johannesburg to diversify and expand its revenue stream.

The mine waste dumps are jointly owned by a South African company and its black economic empowerment partner.

CRG said the concentrator circuit consists of four centrifugal concentrators, two scrubbers, one high-speed agitator, one de-watering screen, hoppers, conveyor belts, sand/water pumps, one master control panel, cables, steel structure and other ancillary equipment necessary to process material prior to thickener underflow processing in the metallurgical plant.

The gold miner said the metallurgical test work indicated that the gold recovery was higher for the concentrated materials, a step closer to achieving the company’s objective.

It is anticipated that the concentrator circuit would arrive and be assembled in the second quarter of 2017, and commissioning to take place during the third quarter of 2017.

CRG chairman Simon Charles said this was a vital step for the company which aimed to turn its fortunes around.
