Anglo American, the global mining company, has appointed investment banker Jim Rutherford to its board as it reviews operations to save cash. Rutherford, 54, had worked for 16 years at Capital Group, investing in the mining and metals industry, Anglo said yesterday. He would start his new role immediately. Chief executive Mark Cutifani is reviewing Anglo’s projects in pursuit of savings and cash-flow gains. He said in July that he was targeting a total annual cash flow gain of $1.3 billion (R13.2bn). – Bloomberg
