Astrapak had appointed Manley Diedloff as its group financial director with effect from month-end, the packaging company said yesterday. Diedloff will be replacing Gene Lapan, who resigned in November last year. Astrapak is in the process of closing down several companies in its flexible division as part of its turnaround strategy. The company reported a loss in its results for the six months to August last year as it said it was unable to fully recover from a fire at one its factories. The company’s profit fell 13.9 percent to R252.3 million from R292m a year earlier. Meanwhile, rival Nampak announced that its new chief executive, Ander de Ruyter, who will be replacing current chief executive Andrew Marshall, would take the helm next month, rather than in April as announced earlier. De Ruyter will move from Sasol, where he has been a senior executive of the global chemicals and North American operations. Astrapak’s shares were unchanged at R7.20. Nampak gained 0.83 percent to R37.66. – Nompumelelo Magwaza
