For the record

In an article published on Friday, titled “Rating upgrade to help Eskom sell debt”, Business Report incorrectly referred to Eskom’s credit ratings as being above those of the South Africa sovereign. The two rating scales referred to for the sovereign and Eskom are different. The national scale, on which Eskom is rated at AAA(zaf), measures relative creditworthiness for companies within the country. On the other hand, Fitch’s international scale, on which the sovereign is rated at BBB, is globally comparable to all governments around the world. Business Report regrets the error.
