Atlatsa, a platinum group metals mining, exploration and development company, posted a 19 percent increase in revenue to R53.8 million despite production challenges in the three months to March, the firm reported yesterday. This comes as the Bokoni mine continued to demonstrate a positive trend in operating performance, the company said. Production was negatively affected by the safety stoppages imposed by the Department of Mineral Resources, and rainfall across the northern part of the country during the quarter, the company said. It added that the heaviest rainfall in the past twenty years was recorded at Bokoni mine. “These conditions had a negative impact on the Klipfontein open cast mine, which managed to produce only 50 percent of its planned production volumes”. – Dineo Faku
