Johannesburg - South Africa's Treasury Director General Lungisa Fuzile told 702 Talk Radio on Friday he was “pleased” that ratings agency Fitch had not downgraded the country's credit rating, but would “have loved to retain the outlook at stable.”

Fitch affirmed South Africa's investment grade credit rating at one notch above sub-investment level, but it changed the outlook on the rating to negative from stable. It said the economy may have started to recover but political risks remained.
