Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble called on Deutsche Bank in an interview with dpa published Friday to provide a quick explanation of the recent series of events that have produced a string of negative headlines for Germany's biggest bank.
“Of course this is not good news, and they give me pause for thought,” Schaeuble said.
Prosecutors raided Frankfurt-based Deutsche for the second time in just over a week Thursday, this time over allegations of false statements in a long-running compensation battle.
But Schaeuble said: “I have confidence and trust that those responsible for these things will take them seriously and will provide an explanation as soon as possible.” - Sapa-dpa
