Frankfurt - Germany's trade surplus widened in May, as imports fell faster than exports, official data showed on Tuesday.
In seasonally adjusted terms, Germany exported goods worth a total of 92.8 billion euros ($126 billion) in May, down 1.1 percent from the figure for April, the federal statistics office Destatis said in a statement.
Imports dropped by 3.4 percent to 74.1 billion euros.
That meant the seasonally adjusted trade surplus - the balance between imports and exports - increased to 18.8 billion euros in May from 17.2 billion euros in April.
In unadjusted terms, the trade surplus also increased to 17.8 billion euros in May from 17.2 billion euros in April, Destatis said. - Sapa-AFP
