Tokyo stocks slipped 0.29 percent by Friday's close after a sharp fall on Wall Street, where sentiment was hit by weak manufacturing data from China and Europe.

The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 25.72 points to 8,798.35, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares lost 0.4 percent, or 3.04 points, to 750.92. - Sapa-AFP
