An attempted railway heist of a Swazi train as it entered Mozambique has resulted in the loss of R10 million of iron ore.

The derailed train is owned by Salgaocar Swaziland, which transports ore from Ngwenya mine in Swaziland to Maputo.

The meddling with the carriages occurred when the train was stopped at the border for customs inspection. The cargo spilled shortly after the train left the border post late on Tuesday night. – Sandile Lukhele
