Tokyo - Tokyo stocks closed 0.62 percent higher on Monday, on the back of lingering optimism over a sharp rally on Wall Street that pushed the key index close to new records.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 69.01 points to 11,260.35, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was up 1.39 percent, or 13.10 points, to 955.75. - Sapa-AFP
