Johannesburg - As national savings month draws to a close, Standard Bank looks at collective savings schemes as a viable alternative to traditional one.

Many South Africans battle to put any spare cash away at the end of the month, and many just do not have spare cash. In addition, many South Africans are spending 75c of every rand they earn servicing debt.

In addition, 9.9 million credit active consumers haven’t paid accounts for three months or more.
