All in the game

Deadly female spies and assassins play the lead roles in two new games out for the Sony Playstation. In Alias, the video game based on the hit television series, the lead character is a pixillated, but very realistic version of the show's Sydney Fox (played by Jennifer Garner).

Fox is an undercover operative who combines beauty, Tae-kwan-do and all her experience as a spy to infiltrate the world's criminal organisations.

The gameplay is not difficult and interaction with other characters (which is compulsory to fulfilling missions) is not cumbersome.

Alias is very much a puzzle-solving game that throws in gun-toting bad guys every now and again.

The interaction with the environment is one of the best bits of the game, with everything from frying pans to rolling pins being used as makeshift weapons.

Like James Bond, Fox needs to play the part and also has a range of costumes to help her blend in with her surroundings.

She is also equipped with all the devices any good spy wouldn't be caught without.

Excellent graphics, good gameplay and a lead character that's as dangerous as she is beautiful, make for an entertaining game.

Cy-Girls is a two-disc game that requires the player to take on the role of two very different assassins.

The Aska disc has you playing a western femme fatale who has been tasked with bringing down a major multi-national company that has plans for world domination. Armed with a gun and the ability to dive into cyberspace, it gives the game a Lawnmower man feel.

Some of the gameplay does become repetitive but interesting puzzles keep the game flowing.

The Ice disk has the player taking on the role of a Japanese femme fatale.

Armed with a sword and more traditional weapons, this character also has the same aims and objectives as Aska, albeit in a different environment.

The game is recommended for the two-games-in-one feel.

Meanwhile, Shrek 2 the movie is being released tomorrow and the game is expected in the country soon.

Shrek 2 lets players control a team of four characters, mastering each one's unique skills and switching between them to complete wild and challenging adventures while dodging and defeating enemies.

Numerous puzzles challenge fans to work their way out of difficult situations and mini-games provide them with additional adventures to master.

In the console versions of Shrek 2, players can also experience "Hero Time" - special adventures that highlight certain characters alone, focusing on that character's special skills and moves. Additionally, the console games feature a multiplayer component that allows up to four players to join and leave the game without interrupting gameplay.
