The heroic Lee has so far managed to keep himself alive through four episodes of sheer terror - braving hordes of walkers, bandits, cannibals and other crazy leftovers of humanity.
Sure enough, like a drunkenly played accordion, the scripting of this final entry swells and contracts in a similarly queasy manner, ratcheting up the tension as a burgeoning sense of hopelessness sets in.
This end to the current series is easily the most harrowing episode to date, and though on the short side, it maintains the raw emotion that has made The Walking Dead one of the year's best games.
