San Francisco - Samsung has been ordered to reveal the sales figures of some of its devices, dashing the South Korean company's hopes that the sensitive information could be kept under wraps until its appeal of the ruling in the court case.

Judge Lucy Koh of the US District Court said that the company did not have a compelling reason to keep the information sealed because it revealed only sales figures, rather than pricing and profit per device.

The information had been requested by Apple as part of its effort to boost the 1 billion dollars in damages it was awarded in August, when a California jury found that Samsung had violated several Apple smartphone and tablet patents. - Sapa-dpa
