London - If you gone to the trouble of dressing up to look ridiculous, or thought of a completely inane comment to sum up the arrival of 2013, who better to share it with than your Twitter followers?

Having shared their Christmas snaps with the entire world, dozens of celebrities continued the trend as they celebrated the New Year.

TV presenter Holly Willoughby led the way by declaring that what she really, really wants in 2013 is to be more like Spice Girl Emma Bunton.

The 31-year-old This Morning host wished her Twitter fans a “Happy tash-year”.

Dressed in a luminous orange top, she was pictured alongside Miss Bunton wearing a silver hat and sporting a grey moustache. In other pictures, she held a shiny microphone and gave a peace sign.

Liz Hurley and Shane Warne also reminded the world what a shy and retiring couple they are by posting a picture of themselves in fancy dress.

Miss Hurley, 47, sported a blonde wig and ex-cricketer Mr Warne, 43, went for a flamboyant purple creation. Several hours later, Miss Hurley tweeted: ‘Had to go back to bed … glitter make-up still on but seeing double’.

Supermodel Cindy Crawford, 46, wished her fans a fun and safe evening and included sexy images of herself from a Terry Richardson photoshoot spraying champagne across her cleavage while wearing a clingy black dress and red heels.

Kylie Minogue decided to reveal her new haircut.

Posting a picture of her freshly cut locks against a backdrop of blue sky and skyscrapers, she tweeted: “New Year, New Haircut. Hello 2013.”

For the male stars of the entertainment business, the social networking site provided an opportunity to continue old feuds into the New Year.

Multi-millionaire entrepreneur Lord Sugar taunted TV host Piers Morgan by tweeting: “HNY old chap. Don’t suppose your NY resolution is to be honest, modest and sensible. Guess you broke that 1min past midnight.”

Mr Morgan replied: “No, Shuggsy. My NY resolution is to continue increasing my follower gap over you. Currently 443,000.”

Olympic diver Tom Daley posted an Instagram picture of himself in jeans and a shirt, while Cheryl Cole tweeted: “I hope your New Year is filled with Love, Laughter, Health and Happiness!! #2013 Let’s go!!”

Actress Chelsee Healey posted a picture of herself in a black and gold sparkly catsuit and the following message: “New Year’s Eve I went with the catsuit.”

Pregnant Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton took to Twitter to celebrate making it to midnight and not falling asleep: “I have managed to stay awake. Yaye! Happy new year! #offtobed”, while Ricky Gervais fans expecting a side-splitting message received: “Happy New Year”.

Singer Taylor Swift posted a bizarre tweet, saying: “There are 13’s everywhere. This is perfect.” - Daily Mail
