#Budget2016 / Durban - Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan invites South Africans to voice their views regarding economic concerns and to raise issues they would like to see highlighted in the national budget on February 24.

South Africa still faces the challenges of lower economic growth, widespread unemployment and inequality, with the government’s budget in 2016/17 amounting to more than R1.3 trillion, to be spent on wages, goods and services, infrastructure and supporting the poor, he said this week.

Gordhan would particularly like to hear citizens’ responses to the following questions:

* What are three things that the government does very well?

* What are the three things that the government should stop doing?

* What are the three areas that government spending should be directed towards?

* How can South Africa achieve inclusive economic growth?

Gordhan said he made the call in an environment of deteriorating global economic conditions since the publishing of the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement in October, and growing negative sentiment towards emerging markets as developing countries grapple with various challenges.
