SA budget deficit target seen at 4.2%

Johannesburg - South African Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan will present his government budget statement to parliament at 2pm on Wednesday.

The median consensus of 17 economists polled by Reuters is for a budget deficit forecast of 4.2 percent of gross domestic product for the 2014/15 fiscal year, which begins on April 1, only slightly wider than the 4.1 percent gap Gordhan forecast in his interim budget in October.
