ABSAEasyPay ‘is now safe to use’

Absa was confident that customers who chose to buy products and services through online-based EasyPay from yesterday would be safe from fraud, the bank said. “Fraudsters were targeting the website with stolen credit cards from Absa and other banks and buying airtime,” said Paul Mathias, Absa’s head of fraud risk management. Having closed access to EasyPay’s services for Absa customers last week, channels were re-opened yesterday, Mathias said. Absa stock fell 0.9 percent to R138.31 yesterday. – Bloomberg
