BankservAfrica IT system to lift standards

BankservAfrica had begun roll-out of a new information technology (IT) system, it said yesterday. The automated clearing house has implemented Marval’s MSM Expert to improve efficiencies and assist with the implementation of ITIL standards. ITIL is a global IT governance framework. Bankserv declined to disclose the cost of its upgrade. The firm switches electronic deals including debit and credit card transactions. BankservAfrica head of operations Chris Nolte said there were higher demands on performance as debit cards as a primary means of transacting were becoming more pervasive. “At the same time, we are dealing with very sensitive information. The banks operate in a highly regulated environment with stringent security and governance policies surrounding all transactions.” – Asha Speckman
