Business Connexion has secured a deal worth R420 million to provide desktop and server support to the Department of Water Affairs over five years. The transaction also includes database management for several information technology (IT) brands, information storage and backup management, including application development and support services. The contract was one of Business Connexion’s largest IT outsourced deals, chief executive Benjamin Mophatlane said yesterday. The deal “is evidence that we are starting to reap the benefits of our overall business strategy to grow our business in the vertical space, in this case the public sector vertical”, he added. The company grew revenue by 35.1 percent to R5.8 billion during the year to last August. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation advanced by 59.6 percent to R511.9m. The stock declined 0.51 percent to R5.90 yesterday. – Asha Speckman
