Cosatu campaign aimed at retailers

Comment on this story

Cosatu will launch a campaign from February 27 against retailers who pay farmers a pittance for their produce.

Cosatu in the Western Cape said research had shown retailers set low prices for farm produce.

It said this showed how retailers promoted, profited and benefited from low wages. Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant announced a new determination in agriculture this week, raising the minimum wage to R105 a day from R69. – Wiseman Khuzwayo
