Four construction workers at Eskom's multi-billion rand Medupi power station in Limpopo appeared briefly in the Lephalale Magistrate's Court on Friday on charges of arson and malicious damage to property.
Their case was postponed to May 20. The four were allegedly took part in an illegal protest on Tuesday, the SABC reported.
They allegedly burnt down offices and damaged four cars and a bus. The accused also face a charge of public violence.
Disgruntled workers are accusing management of hiring workers from the Philippines and Thailand for welding jobs, instead of employing locals, the broadcaster reported. Eskom suspended construction until further notice. - Sapa
