The Department of Mineral Resources had agreed to the reopening of the west section of the Kloof Driefontein Complex (KDC West), Gold Fields said yesterday. This excluded the Ya Rona shaft, it said, adding that the first full shift started with the morning shift yesterday. This follows the reopening of KDC East on Tuesday last week. Both KDC East and West were closed after a fire broke out at the Ya Rona shaft on June 30, in which five workers died. Gold Fields stock declined 1.36 percent to close at R100.11 yesterday. – Staff writer
