Wholesale trade sales at constant (2000) prices for November increased by 6.7% year on year (y/y) compared with a 9.7% y/y increase in October‚ Statistics SA data showed on Thursday.

Wholesale trade sales increased by 11.4% y/y in nominal terms in November.

Measured in real terms‚ seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 0.6% in November compared with October following month-on-month changes of 7.3% in October and -5.6% in September.

Measured in nominal terms (current prices)‚ wholesale trade sales increased by 9.7% in the three months ended November last year compared with the same period in 2011.

The major contributors to this increase were dealers in: solid‚ liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (16.5% and contributing 3.6 percentage points); food‚ beverages and tobacco (13.1% and contributing 1.9 percentage points); and agricultural raw materials and livestock (21.0% and contributing 1.2 percentage points). - I-Net Bridge
