Two additions to strengthen Reserve Bank

Comment on this story

The Reserve Bank named Kuben Naidoo as an adviser to governor Gill Marcus and Citigroup’s Leon Myburgh as the head of the financial markets department. Naidoo, who would be on the monetary policy committee, would start his job on April 1, central bank spokesman Hlengani Mathebula said yesterday. Myburgh will join the bank on March 1.

Naidoo was previously a senior Treasury official and the acting head of the secretariat of the National Planning Commission, led by Planning Minister Trevor Manuel.

He will be a member of the central bank’s financial stability committee. Myburgh will be responsible for implementing the bank’s monetary policy decisions in the financial markets, managing foreign-currency reserves and providing treasury services. – Bloomberg
