Two SA gold mines have reported fatalities at their mines on the same day.
AngloGold Ashanti (ANG) on Thursday said an employee died on Wednesday in a fall of ground accident at Savuka mine near Carletonville.
"The fall of ground was triggered by a seismic event which occurred at about 12.20pm during drilling operations," SA's largest gold producer said.
SA's third largest gold producer, Harmony Gold Mining Company (HAR), on Wednesday also reported a fatality at its Doornkop Mine near Randfontein.
The company said an employee was fatally injured on Wednesday morning following a mud rush accident.
Investigations into both the incident are underway and operations at the mines have been halted. - I-Net Bridge
