Johannesburg‚ Dec 3 (I-Net Bridge) - AngloGold Ashanti on Monday announce the death of an employee at TauTona mine in the Carletonville area.

The victim‚ a Loco Operator‚ was fatally injured in a fall of found triggered by a seismic event at approximately 01h09 this morning.

AngloGold Ashanti said the Department of Minerals and Resources (DMR) had been notified and an in loco inspection would be conducted on Tuesday morning. In the meantime‚ Management has stopped development activities as a precautionary measure.

AngloGold Ashanti expressed its condolences to the family‚ friends and colleagues of the victim.

“Management is working with the employee's family to assist them through this difficult time.”
