Zuma congratulates Marcus on award

Pretoria -

President Jacob Zuma congratulated SA Reserve Bank governor Gill Marcus on Monday on winning an award from financial news company Emerging Markets.

“The award is proof that we have outstanding leaders in many sectors in our country, which makes us all proud and confirms that our country is in good hands in various sectors,” Zuma said in a statement.

Emerging Markets awarded Marcus its Central Bank governor of the year award for sub-Saharan Africa on Saturday.

The organisation said on its website: “The... governor has been praised for her ability to correctly predict where the global economy was going and to act to limit the spillover on South Africa.” - Sapa
