Johannesburg - Bongani Maseko and Maureen Manyama-Matome have been appointed managing director and financial director at the Airports Company SA (Acsa) respectively, it said on Friday.

“The board of directors looks forward to continuing to work with both Mr Maseko and Ms Manyama-Matome in taking Airports Company SA to greater heights, particularly within the context of the recently approved 10-year business plan,” chairwoman Busisiwe Mabuza said in a statement.

On Wednesday, Cabinet approved Maseko's appointment. Manyama-Matome's appointment was effective from April 8.

Maseko had been with Acsa since 1999.

Since 2004 he worked as the group executive of airport operations and was previously general manager of OR Tambo International Airport.

He worked at San Francisco International Airport for eight years.

“The board is of the firm view that Mr Maseko is well-suited for the position as he has the requisite leadership abilities, in-depth knowledge of Acsa's business, and the confidence of the broader leadership team,” Mabuza said.

Maseko holds a degree in Aviation Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida in the US.

He has also studied airport systems planning and design, as well as airport ground transportation planning.

Manyama-Matome is a qualified executive and chartered accountant.

She was previously executive financial director at the SA Forestry Company, and served as acting chief executive there.

She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Gordon Institute of Business Science and a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in taxation from the University of Pretoria. - Sapa
