Rustenburg - Amcu members sang struggle songs as they filed into the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Phokeng, near Rustenburg, on Monday to witness the signing of a wage settlement in the platinum sector.
Union leader Joseph Mathunjwa was expected to sign the wage settlement with the chief executives of Lonmin, Impala Platinum and Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) later on Monday to end the five-month-long strike.
“We expect chief executives to be here. The agreement will be signed here at the stadium,” branch leader Abram Ramasedi said.
A tent had been erected at the stadium where the signing would take place.
Union members in green T-shirts were bused in from various shafts, including Amplats' operations in Limpopo.
Amcu members have been on strike since January 23 demanding a basic monthly salary of R12,500. - Sapa
