Taipei - The suspected middleman in a bribery case involving a major Taiwan-based technology firm was arrested and three senior managers were released on bail Wednesday, according to state media.

Taiwanese authorities raided 19 locations on Tuesday, including private homes, and questioned more than 10 executives and suppliers of Hon Hai Precision Industry Ltd, also known as Foxconn Technology Group, the Central News Agency (CNA) said. Suppliers are suspected of paying bribes to Hon Hai managers to get contracts.

Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer, assembles iPhones and iPads for Apple Inc. Prosecutors said the sales commissions involved exceed 100 million Taiwan dollars (3.3 million US dollars).

Hon Hai reported the case to the police in Taiwan and China in 2012.

Taipei District Prosecutors Office Wednesday took suspected middleman Hao Hsu-kuang into custody.

Prosecutors early Wednesday started questioning Hon Hai's former senior deputy general manager Liao Wan-cheng, trying to piece together the alleged bribery operations in both Taiwan and China, CNA reported. - Sapa-dpa
