Johannesburg - Grant Thornton International says it has solidified Paul Badrick’s position in the company by making him its permanent CEO of its Johannesburg unit.

This, it says in a statement issued on Tuesday, comes as the company “continues its strategic growth plan to be the leading business adviser to dynamic organisations worldwide by 2020”.

Badrick has been acting CEO at the company since February this year and was made permanent with effect from this month.

Before February, he was chairman of Grant Thornton Johannesburg’s Group Governance Board, which oversees governance, partner rights and affairs within the firm.

Deputy CEO of Grant Thornton Johannesburg, Gillian Saunders, says, as the CEO for Grant Thornton in Johannesburg, he will be responsible for overseeing all leadership and management, including the implementation and execution of the new global strategy – ‘Growing Together 2020’.

“He will be supported by his executive team in the implementation of the day-to-day management of the firm, particularly focusing on its clients and its people.”

Badrick is a Chartered Accountant and has been working in the assurance and accounting profession for over 30 years. He joined PKF Johannesburg as a partner in 2006 and in 2013 that firm successfully merged with Grant Thornton.

“I look forward to working with my executive team in the months and years ahead as we strive to grow together with our people, our clients, the markets and the communities we serve as a strong local and global organisation,” Badrick says.
