Johannesburg - The labour department and chemical sector will sign an accord this week to reduce occupational hazards in high risk sectors, a spokesman said on Monday.
The health and safety accord was part of a “zero harm” campaign and would be signed at a chemical sector seminar in Irene, Pretoria, on November 7, department spokesman Page Boikanyo said in a statement.
The accord would be signed by department representatives, unions, businesses and various social associations, he said.
It would be a “stamp of commitment” by all role players to solve the problems of occupational injuries, said the department's inspection and enforcement services deputy director general Thobile Lamati. - Sapa
