Johannesburg - Sasol had been cleared of overcharging of local customers for plastic products, petro chemicals giant said yesterday.

The Competition Appeal Court upheld Sasol Chemical Industries’ appeal against the Competition Tribunal’s finding of excessive pricing in respect of propylene and polypropylene.

The appeal court concluded that the decision of the tribunal was to be set aside and that Sasol’s prices during the period were not excessive.

In July, the Competition Commission served a notice on the Constitutional Court in which it sought leave to appeal the decision of the Competition Appeal Court to the Constitutional Court.

“On 17 November 2015, the Constitutional Court dismissed the commission’s application for leave to appeal. Sasol welcomes the court’s decision, which will bring an end to this matter,” the company said.
