London - Memo to bankers: Behave.

A senior executive at Deutsche Bank has warned staff that “being boastful, indiscreet and vulgar is not OK.”

Colin Fan, head of the bank's markets division, made the order in a video message to staff, published Friday by the Financial Times.

Fan says that because of the increased regulatory scrutiny banks are under, “all your communications may be reviewed. This includes your emails, your conversations, and your conduct.”

And he warns that boastful, indiscreet or vulgar behaviour “will have serious consequences for your career.”

Deutsche Bank is among financial institutions under scrutiny and facing fines over an international rate-fixing scandal.

The bank confirmed the video was genuine. It said it was part of a program to forge “a new culture” at the bank. - Sapa-AP
