Johannesburg - Construction on South Africa's Medupi power plant had not restarted on Thursday as expected, a spokeswoman for state-owned utility Eskom said.

Eskom a day earlier said it anticipated construction would start again on Thursday after work was stopped last week because of labour protests. The plant is supposed to start producing power by late this year and is crucial to easing tight supplies in Africa's biggest economy. - Reuters
