Johannesburg - South Africa's power situation was “not looking good” for Friday, a spokesman for utility Eskom said, after rolling blackouts were imposed in Africa's largest economy after heavy rains soaked coal supplies at power stations.

Eskom expects the blackouts to last until 2200 SA time on Thursday, but spokesman Andrew Etzinger told radio station Power FM heavy rains were persisting in coal-producing areas east of Johannesburg, home to many power stations. - Reuters
