Fatality at AngloGold’s Mponeng mine

Gold miner AngloGold Ashanti (ANG) has announced the death of an employee at its Mponeng mine near Carletonville.

The deceased‚ an electrician‚ was electrocuted while conducting the quarterly inspection and testing of a mini substation at approximately 8.40am on Sunday morning‚ the company said.

The Department of Mineral Resources and other relevant parties have been notified and an in loco inspection was conducted on Sunday afternoon. Further investigations into the incident will continue.
