Johannesburg - Shares in South Africa's Harmony Gold jumped 5.4 percent at the open of trade in Johannesburg after its second quarter earnings exceeded expectations.
South Africa's third largest gold producer reported a 28 percent increase in headline earnings per share and declared an interim dividend of 50 South African cents.
It also said it was optimistic that it would re-open its strike-hit Kusasalethu mine near Carletonville, saving about 6,000 jobs. - Reuters
