Hennie Nel appointed CFO of Santam

Hendrik David Nel (Hennie) has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and as an executive director of the country’s biggest short-term insurer‚ Santam (SNT)‚ it was announced on Monday.

The appointment is effective from 17 September 2012.

Nel is currently a partner at PwC‚ having joined them in 1993 and currently heads the PwC Financial Services Practice in the Western Cape. He has substantial general and life insurance experience‚ having obtained exposure to South African and international general insurance as audit partner and audit manager for various assignments.

Santam said that Machiel Johannes Reyneke would continue to serve as CFO and Financial Director until the effective date of Nel's appointment.

“Subsequent to Hennie’s appointment as CFO and director‚ Machiel will assume a non-executive role on the Santam board and will continue to serve as a member of the Risk Committee. Machiel will also continue to serve on a number of boards of Santam's subsidiary companies‚” the company said. - I-Net Bridge
